Coronado
is a mere two-mile drive from downtown San Diego and across one of the world’s most
distinctive bridges. Coronado features its own unique history and attractions including
beaches, outdoor activities, shopping, and restaurants.
Coronado’s
beaches are consistently rated as some of the best beaches in America. Guests of
the Loews Coronado Bay Resort have access to the Silver Strand State Beach via a
private pedestrian walkway from the Resort. Silver Strand boasts relatively calm
bay waters and the ocean surf where visitors and locals can enjoy swimming, surfing,
boating, water-skiing, and volleyball. South of the developed area, there are 3.5
miles of ocean and natural preserve known for its sea life and interesting plant
life. Silver Strand Beach is home to sand dollars, snowy plovers, and grunions. Hotel
guests can take advantage of an interactive tour of the Silver Strand State Beach’s
rare plants, animals, and birds.
Guests interested in taking advantage of the parks, golf courses
or boutiques can leave their car behind and venture out on an electric cart, beach
cruiser or bike. The island features 21 park including Spreckels Park located between
6th and 7th streets. Orange Avenue has plenty of opportunity for shopping in the
town’s 100 shops and boutiques. Coronado offers 70 cafés and restaurants where you’ll
find fresh seafood, California cuisine and ethnic fare, and many offer outdoor dining
for you to enjoy Coronado’s enviable weather.
